2014 O-LINEMAN Review and Analysis

There is no doubt that the Offensive Lineman will prove that their group is the deepest in this years NFL draft, after seeing this group perform every drill, exercise and forty yard dash time runs I am convinced that they will be one of the deepest and most talented Offensive Lineman classes in a while. The Offense lineman shined today, they showed the evolution of the offensive lineman with performances of pure skill, speed, fluidity and the naturalness some of these young men exhibit.

All the Talk Leading up to the combine was that the consensus number one Lineman was Jake Matthews (Texas A&M) and I am here to say it should not be so clear cut especially with the massive, natural skilled and just plain ole impressive man Greg Robinson (Auburn). Greg Robinson stands at 6'5 332 lbs and ran the forty yard dash at the NFL Combine twice, the first one in 4.88 and the second in 4.84 that is unheard of for a man that size who to be quite honest just looks impressive and the best part is he hasn't even reached his ceiling, he has gotten away with so much natural talent that whatever team can land him and develop him and teach him technique will have themselves a franchise Left Tackle there is no secret exercise for teaching pure strength, power and agility with that size.

I'm not saying Jake Matthew's does not deserve the title of number one Offensive Lineman I just don't think it's so clear cut anymore after today's performance by Greg Robinson. Jake Matthews stands at 6'5 305 lbs showed ability to move for a big man running the forty yard dash at the NFL Combine twice, the first was in 5.0 and the second in 4.91. He looked very smooth with every drill, showed good feet, has the pedigree that runs in his family being the son of Hall of Famer Bruce Matthews, also has the football IQ and he was a first team All American in 2012 & 2013, so you know he's ready for the next level.

For many of you who don't know Taylor Lewan, you soon will this young man was the talk of the combine today with his impressive showing, Taylor Lewan stands 6'7 309 lbs wowed scouts benching 225 lbs 29 times, vertical jump of 29 inches and his forty time was the fastest in the last nine years in 4.87. He was very impressive showing off his quick feet, showing off upper body strength and participated in every drill with ease. To many Miami Dolphin fans this will remind you of Jake Long especially that his number is seventy-seven and he played for Michigan.

There were a few guys also who helped their stock like Joel Bitonio (Nevada) who showed off his quickness running the forty yard dash in 4.91, can slide well, good balance and he showed his athleticism and strength. I seem him to be a solid third rounder, he was rated ten out of 153 Offensive Tackles. You also have Gabe Jackson a Guard from (Mississippi St.) standing at 6'4
339 lbs ran the forty yard dash in 5.34 ranked as the number three overall at his position looked good today, moved well for a man his size, showed his powerful drive and showed good lateral agility. I see Gabe Jackson to be a solid 2nd round pick especially for a team who likes to run the football, this man here is what some consider to be like a road grader, he just plows people out of the way and opens up running lanes.

For all my Miami Hurricane fans I give you Seantrel Henderson's evaluation, he measured at 6'7 331 lbs ran the forty yard dash in 5.04 not bad at all, moved his feet well, at times looked a little stiff, can't teach size and power which he has, the negative i saw or I should say heard throughout the combine and from scouts there is his commitment to play, improve and get better and to be quite honest the biggest worry with him is his motivation, the consensus is that if a team gets him and can have a motivated Seantrel then they would land a very good player, but in the same token because of those concerns his stock is rated at around a fifth or sixth round pick right now.
